DANIEL RICHARD DELANCY, 74

Connecticut resident Daniel “Dan” R. Delancy, 74, passed from this Earth on 11 June 2022, at his home in New Preston. Dan was born 29 March 1948, in the New Milford CT Hospital, to Ada (“Penny”) and Norman Delancy

Dan was a graduate of Washington High School, class of 1967. He was a Veteran having served in the United States Navy as a Culinary Specialist. He served on board various ships such as Aircraft Carriers as well as shore duty at stations such as Roosevelt Roads Puerto Rico, Argentia Newfoundland, Canada, Orlando and Jacksonville, Florida. Upon departure from Navy, he worked for the U.S. Bureau of Prisons, Department of Justice (DOJ), at the Federal Correctional Institution at Danbury CT in Food Preparation. Dan attended the Federal Bureau of Prisons Training Academy. He also studied with the on-line campuses of the University of Kentucky and Hillsdale College that lead to various positions, notably as a Cook Foreman and Culinary Arts instructor. He retired from DOJ in August 2001. Dan was a member of the CT State Police Commission and served as Chaplain for the Interstate Police Officers Association

Dan’s many hobbies and interests included amateur radio (N1RHI) and he enjoyed the hobby by conversing with and making many lasting friends around the globe. Dan had an artisan ability for baking cakes and breads, then sharing his creations with others. His interest in fellow mankind resulted in making people happy. Often times during the Holiday season he would seek out the homeless and provide them with a meal. He loved his Lord with a passion and always took the opportunity to share the word. Dan devoted much of his time and energy spreading God’s word, on line, around the world. The philosophy he lived by as a Christian was, “If it’s good enough for Jesus, it’s good enough for me.”

Dan is survived by his sister, Robin and many cousins. He was preceded by his parents, Penny and Norman Delancy, and brother, Michael Monroe Delancy

A memorial Celebration of Life service is tentatively set for July 17 at 3 PM at the Danbury-Bethel Seventh Day Adventist Church, 67 Turkey Plain Rd, Bethel, CT 06801-2874
