Deborah (Debbie) McCusker McDonald, 72, passed away at her home in Colchester, CT on the morning of November 7th, 2023 with her loving husband, Dennis McDonald beside her.
Debbie was born on March 22nd, 1951 in Hartford, CT to Donald and Noreen McCusker. She is predeceased by her parents, her younger brother, Stephen as well as her nephew, Aidan - both of whom she loved dearly,
She is survived by her husband Dennis, her stepsons, Ivar McDonald and Ian McDonald, her four grandsons, Ives, Archie, Rupert, and Ambrose, her older sister, Kathleen McCusker Freese, her younger brother, Donald McCusker, her niece and goddaughter, Jennifer Freese ( who she considered her surrogate daughter), her nephew, Liam McCusker, as well as countless aunts, uncles, cousins, great nieces and nephews, and in-laws.
Debbie met the love of her life, the man who would stand by her side through the best and worst of times, when she was 40 years old. They had many great times together in their 30 years together but none that they loved more than their time at Nauset Beach in Cape Cod (though later on when the great white sharks appeared, she was worried that her love might become some shark's meal).
Debbie had a smile and an energy that drew people to her wherever she went. She was kind, empathetic, and would do anything for the people that she loved. That included many of the at risk teens she helped in her educational and rehabilitation roles. Many returned to thank and hug her for the caring person she was. She had true compassion for those who were hurting.
A private service will be held for the family.
In lieu of flowers, please perform an act of kindness in Debbie’s memory.
