Florence “Flo” E. O’Malley, 87, of Old Saybrook, Connecticut, passed away peacefully on January 28, 2025.
Born on September 13, 1937, in New Haven, CT, Flo was the beloved daughter of the late William J. Hogan and Alice C. Hogan. She was also predeceased by her brother, William F. Hogan, and her Scottish Terrier and best friend, Kristy.
She is survived by her loving daughter, Deborah Lubeski; her grandchildren, Kelly Wirtz and Daniel Lubeski; and her sisters, Patricia Walker and Eileen Tracey.
Flo worked as a waitress for most of her life, and enjoyed talking to the new people she met throughout her career. She had a deep love for the beach and found special joy on Nantucket Island, where she lived for several years. She also loved wearing green, and celebrating her heritage- always asking someone she just met if they too were Irish!
Her family and friends will never forget the way her laughter could fill a room—it was truly contagious. Flo will be profoundly missed and forever remembered by those who knew and loved her.
She spent the last year of her life at Apple Rehab of Old Saybrook, where she loved the staff, and lived for BINGO and other social activities. The family would like to thank the staff at Apple Rehab of Old Saybrook, Apple Rehab of Chester, as well as Hospice for the care and compassion they have shown. We are grateful for all of your support during this difficult time.
Donations can be made to Our Lady of Grace Monastery, 11 Race Hill Rd, North Guilford, CT, 06437, in Florence O’Malley’s memory.
