Gary M. Loomis went home to be with his Lord following a sudden heart attack on Sunday, June 12th. He was born on February 2, 1956, to Dewitt and Patricia Loomis in Hennepin, MN. He was loved by all who knew him. His heart was so full of love for his family and friends that it just couldn’t hold anymore.
As we celebrate his life, we think of those he has left behind – his devoted and loving wife of 7 plus years, Charlene Loomis of Waterbury, CT and his son, Michael Loomis of Jupiter, FL. He also leaves behind five sisters and one brother. His sisters-- Lori & Kirk Robbins; Shari & Lee Scadden all of Rapid City, SD; Karyn & Sascha Womack of Asheville, NC; Diane Kulhavy of Burky, ID; and Jennifer and Andrew Crow of Arlington, TX. His brother--Scott and Shelly Peterson of Rapid City, SD. Gary also leaves behind multiple nieces, nephews, and cousins. Gary was predeceased by his beloved mother, Patricia Kulhavy of Rapid City, SD.
Gary enjoyed working at Macy’s Warehouse in Cheshire, CT. He enjoyed communicating with many friends. He was known for calling and encouraging friends across the country on a weekly basis. His passion was talking about his Savior and his home in heaven. He loved his daily chats with his beloved son, Michael. He was a tenderhearted individual who was concerned for all those around him. He loved to sing and participate in various church ministries. He immensely enjoyed Jimmy Buffet’s music which helped him during some difficult times in his life. He was also known for his love of animals. Nothing was more important to Gary than his family and his Savior Jesus Christ.
Gary’s memorial service will be held July 16th at the Calvary Baptist Church, 3000 North Main Street, Waterbury, CT. You may greet the family from 10:00 to 10:50 am with the memorial service starting promptly at 11:00 am. There will be a luncheon immediately following the service. In lieu of flowers, love gifts may be sent to Calvary Baptist Church in Gary’s memory. For those who cannot attend, services will be live-streamed at www.ourcalvary.org. The password will be Loomis.
