Hazel (Goodwin) Yaconiello of East Hartford, passed from this earth on Sunday, December 13, 2020 at the age of 93 after a brief illness.
Hazel was predeceased by her husband Tom and her sisters Beatrice Sikora and Shirley Degen. Born on October 31, 1927 in Hardwick, Massachusetts, she was a true New Englander. While attending East Hartford High School, she worked at Bergrens Dairy and Wonder Bread. After marrying in 1945 and starting her family, she held jobs at the A&P, Baxter and Henry, and finally as a legal secretary for Liberty Mutual retiring in 1992. Hazel loved the beautiful sunsets she could see from the living room window. She enjoyed traveling and visiting the Bahamas, Florida, Hawaii, Alaska, San Diego, Las Vegas and Reno, but most frequently to see family in Virginia Beach, VA, with side trips to Atlantic City.
Hazel is survived by her son and daughter-in-law, Timothy and Joan Yaconiello of East Hartford, her daughter and son-in-law, Patricia and David Packard of Greensboro, North Carolina, and her daughter, Linda Smith, with whom she made her home in East Hartford. Also two grandchildren, Christopher and his wife Crystal of Burton, Michigan and a granddaughter, Amanda Rivera of East Hartford. Six great grandchildren, Alexander, Raven, Zachary, Joshua, Joseph and Sebastian. Hazel will miss the arrival of her first great-great grandchild in January.
Due to the current health issues, there will be no services at this time. The Yaconiello family would like to thank everyone for all the love and support during this time. A gathering is planned for the Spring of 2021. On-line condolences may be left on www.abbeycremation.com
