Jim Childs of Manchester CT passed away in the comfort of his home and care of his family on October 28, 2019 after a short battle with melanoma.
Born in Springfield, VT, he graduated high school and moved to MA to pursue an insurance career. After 20 years in insurance he left to start his own entrepreneurial endeavors. After a few businesses, Jim decided on a new career, put himself through computer training and retired from an IT career. In retirement, Jim enjoyed volunteering his time for neighborhood interests, he provided tax services for seniors, was a hospice volunteer and was active in his church. Jim enjoyed life, taking care of others, and spending time with family and friends.
Jim is survived by his wife of 55 years, Maureen, his children (and their spouses) Brian & Von Childs, Sean & Kristin Childs, Kelly & Jeff Doss, his grandchildren, Zachary, Evan, Madison & Gavin, and his siblings, Marilyn & Larry of Springfield VT.
A memorial service will be held on Saturday Nov. 2, 2019 at Avery Street Church in South Windsor, CT with visiting hours at 10:00, a service at 11:00 followed by a light lunch.
