John Michael Joseph Pitus, of Wethersfield, CT, passed away on Wednesday October 23, 2019 at the age of 68. He will be greatly missed but remembered with love by his wife, Patricia D. Pope, of 37 years whom he devoted himself to with unconditional love; his children; Crystal Pitus and Fiancé Todd Ruszczyk, John Pitus and wife, Marcie Pitus, Karen Pope Kowalyshyn and husband, Brian Kowalyshyn, and Amy Pope-Henton; his grandchildren, Daniele Aguilera, Katharine Kowalyshyn, Abagail Kowalyshyn, George Kowalyshyn, Avery Pitus, Addison Pitus and Maximus Pitus; his sister Joan Pitus and numerous extended family and friends.
John will be remembered most fondly as a man of gentle spirit, strong character and deep commitment to his family and friends. He was always lending a supporting hand to those in need. John worked in the Insurance Industry for different Insurance Companies and Agencies for over 40 years culminating with his current job as an Account Manager at USI Insurance Services in Meriden CT. John was an expert precision marksman and enjoyed teaching the correct rules of target shooting and the importance of gun safety. John was active in animal rescue, specifically Angel Dog Rescue, Inc. in GA. He had rescued Labrador retrievers to include his current Love, Mr. Bob. He was also very active with Fidelco Guide Foundation as a foster parent for guide dog puppies, for many years.
On November 24th, 2019 family and friends will gather for a luncheon at Elizabeth’s Restaurant in Rocky Hill, CT for a Celebration of Life starting at 12:30 p.m. to honor John and the happiness that he spread to everyone he met. We encourage a casual interaction sharing photos, mementos, stories and memories.
