Lesley Jane Whitehill of Middletown, CT passed away on May 31st, 2023, surrounded by her loved ones. She was the daughter of Alfred and Emily Stainkamp, born with a caul on July 5th, 1950, in Yonkers, NY. She grew up in Hopewell Junction and graduated from Roy C. Ketcham Senior High in the class of 1968. She lived in Colorado, Nevada, Mississippi, Alabama, and Florida before moving to CT.
Her first marriage was to Timothy Sadlier and her second to David Whitehill, divorced in 2006. Self-employed for many years as a housekeeper and stained glass artist, she was a member of the Connecticut River Artisans Co-op and also sold many of her beautiful works to the Tiffany Stained Glass Company. She later worked as a returns specialist at S&S Worldwide and retired as a certified home health aide. Well known for her diligence and dependability, she worked hard to support her family and was always there for them.
She enjoyed collecting 4 leaf clovers and found them easily, along with rare 5 leaf clovers on occasion. She was an avid reader and enjoyed Stephen King books most of all. She adored the company of her feline friends and had a soft spot for those all black in color. She never forgot an important date and was fond of using her artistic talent to create special handcrafted greeting cards. She was happiest at home enjoying her creature comforts and of course, chocolate.
Those who knew her most often remark upon her kind and gentle nature. She was a good mom, precious beyond all things. Yet the best of all that made her so, can't be told in shapes of letters nor with the words they go, but only with the love she gave, and just by heart we know.
Lesley is predeceased by her brother Al Stainkamp Jr. and son Andrew Whitehill. She is survived by her sister Aileen Angel, brother John Stainkamp, daughter Theresa Sadlier, son Robert Whitehill, best friend Jimmy Tedeschi, and assorted nieces, nephews and in-laws. In accordance with her will, a public memorial service will not be held.
