Waterford- Mabelle (Mae) Whitney (Pooler) 90, passed into heaven peacefully at home surrounded by Family on Saturday July 27th, 2019. Mae was born in Cambridge, Mass.
At age 13 she went to work at a Wonder Bread Factory to help her family. Although she never returned to school she read thousands of books and thus was self-educated and worked many different jobs during her life.
Mae was a very kind and caring woman who touched the lives of all who got to know her with love. Her passions in life included arts-n-crafts, painting, crochet, knitting, wood-burning, and reading. She spent her whole life making beautiful things and giving them away to the people she loved. She also caught on and enjoyed the internet computer age and even created two websites one was called "away with Mae" and the other was "family Keepers II."
Mae will be greatly missed by her sister Patricia Points and her husband Jerry of San Diego, California. She was predeceased by her brother Eugene Pooler of San Diego, California. Mae has three daughters: Linda Martin of Brevard, North Carolina; Lorna Whitney of Waterford, Connecticut; Andrea Page and her husband Jeffrey of Waterford, Connecticut. Her 10 grandchildren: Todd Leonard of Concord, New Hampshire; Kelly Leonard of Brevard, North Carolina; Julie Buck of Mio, Michigan; Natalie Noble of Long Beach, California; Peggy Fournier of Waterford, Connecticut; Damien Castleberry of Groton, Connecticut; Heather Walker and husband Christopher Casanova of Lexington, Kentucky; Megan Castleberry of Waterford, Connecticut; Billy Castleberry, of Waterford Connecticut and she was predeceased by one grandson Dale Allen Fournier of Mashpee, Mass.
Mae will also be missed by her 13 great-grandchildren Sasha, Anthony, Rishard, Katelynn Mae, Mazie, Casey, Salina, Hunter, Isaac, Lilliana, Kenny, Magnolia, and Scarlett. And four great-great-grandchildren Emma, Logan, Luke, and Owen.
Mae will be missed by her lifelong friend Jean LeBlanc of Woburn, Mass and her last caregiver whom she loved like a daughter Sherrie varella of New London, Connecticut. Also her many nephews and nieces will miss their Aunt Mae.
A Christian graveside service will be held in September at Edson Cemetary in Lowell Mass. Please contact family for details.
