William Howard Parks 1945-2022

William Howard Parks, 77, died with peaceful intentionality, on Saturday, October 1, 2022, at

the Riverside Health and Rehabilitation Center, in East Hartford, CT. Will lived well with

Parkinson’s Disease for many years, in his home on Andover Lake with his wife of 35 years,

Linda and poodle puppy, Hugo. Together, they supported daily life with the Beat Parkinson’s

Today community in East Hartford, the Senior Moments day program in Vernon, the home care of Lauren Carrara and Wendy Halloran and the wise medical care of the Vernon Movement Disorder Center. Within this loving community quality of life was able to continue, through the ever-increasing challenges.

Will was born on April 20, 1945 to his parents, Ethel Wilbur Parks and Jobie Parks, on their dairy farm in Towanda, PA, in the Shenandoah River Valley. His strong spirit of spiritual seeking and adventure led him to a life in West Hartford, CT where he created a full and enriching life. He had a successful career as a skillful acupressure massage therapist and instructor at the CT Center for Massage Therapy. Will’s life was abundant with friends, travel, and goodness. He left this world a grateful man.

Will is survived by his two sons, Tyler Brink (and his wife Maryesther) and Tim Brink (and his

wife Cindy), two sisters, Cindy Yoder and Michelle Parks, a large extended family including 8

grandchildren and many great-grandchildren. His wife, Linda, step-daughter, Nell Derick-

Debevoise, and her husband, Grant Dewey, will miss him and thrive on his generous love

forever.

The Family will have a celebration of life, on Sunday, November 13, 2022 at 1:30 pm, at the

Andover Congregational Church, 359 Route 6, followed by a bonfire celebration at the

Parks/Derick home.

Donations may be made in Will’s name to either Beat PD Today or to Senior Moments.

The trees are about to show us how lovely it is to let go.

Linda, you are in my heart. In Will, this world was graced with one of the humblest, most skilled and embodied healers, a gifted educator, wisdom-keeper, and beautiful human being. I am blessed to know you both, and I’m holding space in my mind and heart for you all within this time of loss and transition. Sending so much love, Hallie Sawyers
