He married his wife Helen (Lanoue) Leone on February 19th, 1966, they met on a blind date on New Year’s Eve, fell in love and went on to spend 55 beautiful years together. They always made sure they were together at midnight to ring in each New Year together. Al was raised in Norwich, CT and attended St. Patrick’s school, where he was also an altar boy, later going on to attend NFA. Al joined the U.S. Navy in 1961 was an Electricians Mate EM3 (E-4) aboard the USS Amphion (AR-13) out of Norfolk, VA and was Honorably Discharged in 1965. Al was a longtime resident of Colchester, CT, Indianfield Campground in Salem, CT and the Savannah Club in Port St. Lucie, FL which have become special places to all who loved him. He loved golf, and travel. His last trip was a tour of Italy and the Greek islands, one last adventure he got to share with his two children and their spouses. Al was a beloved grandfather and great-grandfather. He was always there for campground visits, annual trips to the theater, and to water the “money tree”. He loved his great-grandchildren and was always ready to shower them in love whether he was seeing them in-person or on video calls. We know he will continue to watch over us and be deeply proud of us all.
