Ann M. McGrath


Ann M. McGrath, passed away May 7, 2023 after a long and stubborn battle with cancer. Her final moments were spent peacefully in her home in Heritage Village, Southbury CT, surrounded by family and close friends.


Known for her enthusiasm for life, passion for travel, talent of painting and unconditional love of her children and grandchildren, she will be dearly missed by all who knew her.


Ann was born in Yonkers, NY on April 13, 1941, daughter of the late James and Marie (Murphy) Polsenski. She was a graduate of Ladycliff College. She met her future husband, John P. McGrath, at a Saint Patricks Day’s dance in Yonkers, NY. This ultimately led to them raising five children in Roxbury CT, after which she retired to Heritage Village. It was here that she spent twenty two wonderful years creating numerous friendships that blessed her day in and day out.


Ann is survived by her three children, John McGrath (Deb), Ann Marie McGrath and Kristen Lundberg (Darryl), along with seven beautiful grandchildren. She was predeceased by her husband John and sons Michael and Patrick.


A burial service will be held at Our Lady of Grace Cemetery, Bantam CT, on Saturday July 8 at 10:00 AM. A Celebration of Life will follow the service at the Heritage Hotel in Southbury CT from 12:00-3:00 PM.

One of the most amazing and strong women I will ever meet in my entire life. She was a fighter until the very end and took cancer down with her. She will be greatly missed.
