With deepest sorrow, we announce the passing of Anthony Schlapa III, who left this world at the age of 59 on July 23, 2025. He was the beloved son of Darlene Coffey and Stepson of Robert Coffey, brother of Christine Calumet and Andrew Schlapa, uncle to Zoe, Ava, Thomas, Jr., and Joey Schlapa; nephew to Dolores Modera and Peter Leveski, cousins Paul, (Laura) Modera, Tina Albanese, Lisa (Sha

un) Healy, John Modera; and his companion Erin Trotti. He was predeceased by his Father Anthony Schlapa, Jr. and his brother, Thomas Schlapa.

Anthony leaves behind a family who adored him, friends who were better for having known him, and a legacy built not only in wood and art, but in love, humility, and quiet acts of grace. But perhaps Anthony’s greatest legacy lies in the way he treated people. He had a rare kindness, a gentle patience, and a warmth that put others at ease. He never hesitated to lend a hand, to offer support, or to simply sit with someone in their time of need. He was the kind of person who made you feel safe just by being nearby.

Known for his kind heart, generous spirit, and quiet strength, Anthony lived a life that touched many and left a lasting imprint on all who knew him.

He may no longer walk beside us, but his spirit-steadfast, good, and generous will remain with us always. A private family gathering will be held at a later date to honor and celebrate Anthony's life.  In lieu of flowers, the family asks that you honor Anthony's memory with a kind word, a gentle deed or a moment of quiet reflection -- just as he lived his life every day.  If you wish, he would have like a donation be made to the Animan Rescue Foundation (ARF) 366 Main St, Terryville, 06786 or any Charity of your choice in his honor.

Rest well, Anthony. We will miss and love you forever.
