Anthony Wayne Fletcher

Anthony Wayne Fletcher, 65, of Norwalk CT died on April 5, 2024 at Yale New Haven Hospital from liver and kidney failure. Tony was the son of Alexander C. and Ethel D. Fletcher. He grew up in Darien, CT and graduated from Darien High School in 1977. He earned a B.S. in Business from Southern Oregon State College in Ashland, OR in 1982.

Tony worked in the landscaping and construction businesses throughout his life, including Riedel Landscaping, The Gardeners Center, Don Crawford Landscaping and Blue Wave Construction, among others.

Tony is survived by his son, Matthew, of Wethersfield CT, and sisters Trudy O’Donnell and Francie Evans, as well as brother-in-law, Grant Evans (his tireless advocate) and brother Sandy Fletcher (Karen) and several nieces and nephews.

Tony was predeceased by his parents, his ex-wife, Jayne Palumbo Fletcher, and brothers Dixon Fletcher, Arthur Fletcher, and Alan Fletcher, as well as his sister Lucia Underhill

Tony was a friendly, gregarious soul who enjoyed the gift of being able to talk to anyone. He was a talented gardener (he could grow anything!) and enjoyed tending to his plants and vegetables. A great cook and a dog lover, he was a generous friend.  He remained an unabashed and steadfast NY Giants fan throughout his life.

Despite a long and complex battle with alcoholism, his family is proud to say Tony chose to become sober toward the end of his life. He was too ill to fulfill his last brave choice.

May he finally rest in peace.

A  memorial service will be held on Saturday, July 6 at 1:00om at Noroton Presbyterian Church, 2011 Post Rd,  Darien CT in the Atrium.
