Barbara Devotion Edye Hunt Page, 82, of Brooklyn, CT, passed away at her home on November 12, 2025. Born February 23, 1943, in New Haven, CT, she was the beloved daughter of the late Elizabeth Field Hunt and William Ernest Hunt.
Barbara spent most of her life in the family’s red cottage in Brooklyn, which had been in her family since 1812. She was often seen outside working in the yard with her loyal Labrador Retriever faithfully by her side.
Barbara loved spending time outside and embraced an active lifestyle. She spent much of her childhood riding her horse and later found joy in gardening and walks with her dog. Her time working at The Golden Lamb & Tyrone Farm allowed her to bring together her deep love of nature with her talent and extensive knowledge of gardening.
She delighted in cooking and baking, always eager to try new recipes and collaborate with others. She found special joy in delivering homemade treats to friends, family, and local businesses, simply to brighten someone’s day or to show her appreciation.
A graduate of the Rhode Island School of Photography, Barbara combined her love of photography with her passion for sports car racing by capturing events at LimeRock Park and covering local races at Thompson Speedway for the Journal Transcript.
Her caring heart extended beyond her avocations. Barbara’s commitment to serving others was a defining part of her life. She volunteered as an EMT for over twenty years with the Mortlake Fire Department in Brooklyn, CT and also worked as an EMT at Lime Rock Park in Lakeville, CT.
A woman of keen intellect, Barbara loved reading books and engaging in meaningful conversations with anyone she met. She had a very inquisitive mind, always eager to learn and explore new ideas. She had a magnificent memory, a wonderful sense of humor, and a talent for storytelling that made every interaction memorable.
Barbara’s joy, knowledge, creativity and kindness she brought to the world will never be forgotten. She will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her.
She is survived by her beloved family: her daughters Rebecca T. Prevete and Katherine M. Page and her grandchildren Connor J. Prevete and Riley E. Prevete.
A service will be held for Barbara on June 6, 2026 at 10am at Trinity Episcopal Church, 7 Providence Rd. Brooklyn, CT 06234, followed by a graveside service at Old Trinity Church, 60 Church St. Brooklyn, CT 06234. Reception to follow. In celebration of Mom, we invite attendees to wear colorful attire and drive a sports car to her service.
