
Bernard (Bernie) Alvin Petronis, Jr., 78, of Chester, Ct. passed away at his home on June 13, 2024, after a long battle with cancer. Bernie was born in Waterbury, Ct. on December 29, 1945, to the late Bernard A Petronis and Martha Petronis. He leaves behind his bride of 27 years, Catharine.
Bernie was a very accomplished man. He was a proud Vietnam Veteran, having served in the U. S. Army. Bernie went on to attain his private pilot’s license. He was employed with Southern New England Telephone company for many, many years. Bernie worked as carpenter and also joined a lifelong friend in a business venture. One of Bernie’s most fulfilling accomplishments was that of designing and building his dream log home with his bride, Catharine.
Bernie was preceded in death by two sisters, Joan Petronis and Suzanne Overbaugh. He leaves behind his bride, Catharine and his eight stepchildren, Donna (James) Hendley, of Nashville, GA, Deborah Regan of Chester, Ct., Lisa (Steve) Morris of Chester, Ct., Francis Aronson of Norwich, Ct., Jeffrey (Christel) Aronson of Oakdale, Ct., Miranda Varley of N.C., Edward Varley of Chester, Ct. and Troy Varley of Fl. Brother, Ron (Rosemary) Petronis of Morris, Ct., brother-in-law, William Overbaugh of Bantam, Ct. Countless grandchildren, great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews, lifelong friends and military friends. Let’s not forget his cat, Princess, who is really missing his presence.
Services will be held on July 6, 2024 at 9:00 a.m. at the State of Connecticut Veterans’ Cemetery located at 317 Bow Lane, Middletown, Ct.
