In Loving Memory of Bruce D. McDonald
Bruce McDonald, age 69, of Naugatuck, Connecticut, passed away peacefully on February 26, 2026, following a courageous and long-fought battle with cancer.
Bruce was a man of simple pleasures, finding great joy in music and his vibrant tomato garden. A gifted grower, he took great pride in his tomatoes, which he harvested and shared freely with many. For Bruce, a successful season wasn't measured by the yield, but by the joy of handing off fresh tomatoes to his family and friends.
He is survived by his sister, Anna Spardone of Naugatuck, and many beloved nieces, nephews and cousins who will miss him dearly. He was predeceased by his siblings: Joan Corsino, Lois Cash, Patricia LePine, Vicky Joray, John (Jackie) McDonald, William McDonald, Jr., and Richard McDonald.
The family wishes to extend their deepest gratitude to the medical teams who supported Bruce during his long battle. Special thanks are offered to the staff at Cheshire House and to VITAS Hospice Care, with immense appreciation for Sabina, whose compassionate care provided great comfort to Bruce and his family during his final journey.
A burial service will be held at Cavalry Cemetery in Waterbury at a future date. In honor of Bruce’s life, memorial donations may be made to:
The Harold Leever Regional Cancer Center, 1075 Chase Pkwy, Waterbury CT06708or online at Leevercancercenter.org/donate/
