Bruce Ernest Herard

Bruce Ernest Herard, 69, of Canterbury, Connecticut, passed away on Friday, February 20, 2026.

Born on August 17, 1956, in Putnam, Connecticut, Bruce was the son of the late Roland Herard and Gloria Herard. He proudly served his country in the United States Army during the Vietnam Era from 1974 to 1976.

Bruce pursued his education at Baylor University from 1974 to 1975 and at Holy Apostles College from 1976 to 1978. He later studied nursing in Middletown, Connecticut, in 1980.

He began his career working in the resort and casino industry from 1982 to 1990. In 1994, he returned to Connecticut and joined Mohegan Sun, where he dedicated many years of service until his retirement in 2020.

Bruce was a longtime resident of Canterbury. He will be remembered as a kind and loyal friend who consistently put others before himself. He cherished his home, valued his friendships, and dearly loved his dog.

He is survived by his sister, Diane Herard Stone of Pikeville, Tennessee; Kevin, Oma, and Yuvaan Rampersaud of Montville, Connecticut; Arunie; and Jesse De Abreu of Norwich, Connecticut.

A memorial service will be held in the summer at a date to be announced.
