Bruce Theodore Faulkner, 98, passed away suddenly on Aug. 4. He was born May 17, 1922 to the late Thomas D. and Zella Bunce Faulkner.
Following Hall High School, he went to Wilbraham Academy and Colgate University, then joined the Naval Air Force. Bruce lived and worked in West Hartford and became a realtor at T. D. Faulkner Co. with his father and two sisters. He was a member of Avon Golf Club, the City Club, and Hartford Golf Club, where he enjoyed one of his passions—golf. He was a mason and a rotarian.
He married the love of his life for 72 years, Marlea Schilke, who predeceased him. They enjoyed a wonderful retirement splitting their time between St. Petersburg, FL and W. Htfd. before moving to Middlewoods of Farmington 10 years ago. He especially loved playing golf, bowling, cards, dancing, scenic views, buttered lobster rolls, coconut shrimp, swordfish, chocolate, and blueberries.
He leaves behind 4 children: Susan (Dave) Crowther of Farmington, Bruce (Ellen) Faulkner of FL, Thomas Faulkner of FL., Cathy Faulkner of Cromwell, 10 grandchildren, and 8 great grandchildren, many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by all his siblings: Thomas and George Faulkner, Ina Bourgard, and Phyllis Wattles.
The family would like to thank Middlewoods of Farmington for their care and kindness of both our parents and us throughout the 10 years our parents lived there.
In lieu of flowers, please contribute to one of Bruce’s favorite charities: Open Hearth or Salvation Army, both of Hartford. The family hopes to have a memorial service in the fall.
