Carlos Ortola

Beloved Husband, Father, Grandfather, and Brother

April 1, 1945 – June 15, 2025

Carlos Ortola, 80, of Hebron, CT, passed away peacefully on June 15, 2025, surrounded by his loving family. A devoted husband, cherished father and grandfather, and loyal friend, Carlos lived a life rich in love, tradition, and simple pleasures.

Born in Pego, Spain, Carlos immigrated as a young man, bringing with him a passion for family, good food, and the land.

Carlos was a man who found joy in the everyday. He was most at home in his garden, hands deep in the soil, coaxing tomatoes, herbs, and vegetables to life. His kitchen was always filled with the savory aromas of home-cooked meals and took great pride in his Paellas.

He is survived by his beloved wife of 48 years, Rosa; his daughters, Lilia Elvira Wall and her husband, Mark, and Elissa Ortola; and his four grandchildren, Colton and Logan Wall, and Avah and Hannah Rudenauer, who lovingly called him Yayo. Carlos also leaves behind his two sisters, Elvira Marco and Carmen Albero, and their families.

Carlos had a deep and enduring bond with his extended family. His sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law were more than relatives to him—they were cherished companions, constants in his life who brought joy, support, and warmth to countless gatherings, holidays, and everyday moments.

Carlos taught us to work hard, enjoy what the earth gives you, and the importance of healthy foods.

A celebration of life will be held at Mill Brook Place, 1267 Main St, Coventry, CT 06238 on Wednesday, June 25th from 4–7pm. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that you honor Carlos’s memory by planting something in your garden or sharing a homemade meal with someone you love.

Descansa en pau Carlos.
