It is with great heartache to announce the unexpected passing of our beloved sister,
Carol A. Tomassetti, 81, of Southington, Connecticut on February 15, 2023. Born
on October 18, 1941, she was the eldest child of the late Fred J Tomassetti Jr. and
Mary Montefiore Tomassetti. Carol is survived by her sister, Judy Tomassetti
Smith of Middletown, brothers Fred Tomassetti III (Laurel) of Southington and
David Tomassetti of Middletown, her nieces Michelle Smith, Denise Lasker (JT),
Karen Brown (Matt), Aunt Helena Hamel, many great nieces, nephews, cousins
and extended family members. She was predeceased by brother-in-law Michael S.
Smith, Uncles Bill and Gene Montefiore with whom she had close relationships.
Carol graduated from St. Joseph Grammar School in Meriden and Southington
High School the Class of 1959. She attended the TWA Career Training Program in
New York where she became an Agent in Charge. First working on 5th Avenue and
then as a TWA Supervisor at Kennedy International Airport. It was her many years
with the airline that afforded her the opportunity to travel. Carol visited many
countries. She rode a camel in Egypt, skied in Poland, and ate sushi in Japan—way
before it was trendy, but her all time favorite destination was Italy. Even for a
quick trip to Rome for a haircut! Carol was the consummate tour guide, her
knowledge of Rome especially was un-matched. She loved giving tours to friends
and family. On one trip she brought both her Mother and brother, David, guiding
them through the beauty of the eternal city of Rome. Carol loved to laugh and was
often the life of the party. Her life was truly filled with fun and adventure. She was
loved by all who knew her and will be deeply missed.
Out of respect for Carol’s wishes, no memorial services are scheduled
