STERLING, CT - Charles Raymond “Jim” Cole, 80, passed away peacefully at home on Sunday, July 26th, 2026.


Born in Norwich, CT on December 1st, 1945, to the late Mowry and Annabelle (Malbaurn) Cole.   He comes from a large family with 7 brothers and 2 sisters, growing up in Voluntown, CT.


Jim married his wife Verna (Gray) Cole on June 22, 1968. Together they had two children, Charles and Betsy, and made their life on Ekonk Hill in Sterling. Jim served in the United States Army.  He was a coloe Ohard-working individual that made his life working on sawmills and cutting firewood to provide for his family. Some of his favorite past times were digging for quahogs, fishing, and bingo. 


Jim was predeceased by his loving wife Verna, and many other family members. 

Jim leaves behind: a brother Ernie Cole of Jacksonville, FL., son Charles Cole and wife Lara, daughter Betsy Molodich and husband Michael; grandchildren and spouses: Katie & Michael Patton, Charles & Maggie Cole, Andrew & Faith Molodich; great-grandchildren Charles Francis “Frankie” & Peter Vernon Cole; and many other loving relatives.


A private graveside service will be held at the convenience of the family at a later date.
