WATERBURY- Claudia Clarice Michaud, 68, passed away peacefully in the comfort of her home, surrounded by her loving family, on Friday March 11, 2022, after a long and courageous battle with cancer.
Claudia had so many strengths that defined her, but what stood out over the past few years was her fierce determination to fight. Time and again, when cancer seemed to have the upper hand, Claudia beat back the demon, rallied and fought and inspired all of us with her courage and spirited attitude.
Two characteristics defined Claudia’s life: her never ending love of family and her selfless devotion to helping others. She was a loving and caring person to all who knew her. She spent her life thinking of, taking care of and helping everyone she knew.
She was born Sept. 22, 1953, in Waterbury, a daughter of the late James Andrade Sr. and Marjorie (Jacko) Andrade. Claudia attended Wilby High School in Waterbury.
Left to honor her legacy and cherish her memory are her devoted husband Roderick Michaud; her daughters, Amy (Michaud) and Paulo Martins and Danielle (Michaud) and Mike Trocchio; her son Ricky Michaud and Jess (Bandy) Michaud; four grandchildren Tyler Martins, Cameron Trocchio, Caelynn Trocchio and Noah Michaud; her two sisters, Carol and Ronald Snyder and Laurie and Michael Sklenka; brother James Jr. and Maureen Andrade; as well as her niece, nephews and extended family.
She retired after 40+ years with the Social Security Administration. After retirement, she enjoyed raising and watching her grandchildren grow. Her grandchildren were the light of her life. She enjoyed attending sport events, day trips and vacationing to Cape Cod with her family. Time spent at the beach was especially dear to her, where she loved to sit in the sun, read and walk on the beach watching her grandchildren play.
A funeral mass will be held on Saturday, March 19, 2022, 10 a.m. at Saint Francis Xavier Church, 625 Baldwin St. Waterbury, CT 06706. A viewing will be Saturday morning from 9:30 a.m. to 10 a.m. at the church before the mass. She will be laid to rest at a later date.
