Cynthia Rose (Tague) Smith




Cynthia Rose (Tague) Smith, age 72, passed away on December 28, 2024, with her beloved husband Jim by her side at their home in Lebanon, Ct.  Cindy had suffered from frontotemporal dementia (FTD) for many years. Born at Schuyler Hospital on January 30, 1952, to Dr. William F. Tague and Rose (Carso) Tague of Montour Falls, NY, Cindy grew up in Montour Falls. She graduated from Odessa-Montour Central High School in 1970 and received her Bachelor of Science degree in Nutrition from Syracuse University in 1974 where she was a member of Gamma Phi Beta Sorority. Cindy moved to West Hartford, CT where, in 1985, she went on to receive a Masters Degree of Arts and Counseling from the University of Saint Joseph, West Hartford, CT. She then moved to Newington, CT where she met and later married her husband, Jim Smith, on June 9, 1990. They lived in a home in Hebron, CT for many years until they built a log cabin on Lake Williams in Lebanon, CT where they lived with their two rescue Labs, Dusty and Dixie, and their kitty,Willow. Both Jim and Cindy enjoyed cooking and hosted an annual pig roast at their cabin for many of their friends and neighbors. Cindy enjoyed many years participating in Irish step dancing, and she and Jim played the keyboard and fiddle respectively in an Irish band called The Irish Leftovers. She also took pleasure in creating arts and crafts projects in her free time. Cindy worked at Hartford Hospital as a Registered Dietitian Nutritionist (RDN) for many years until her retirement in February 2014. Predeceased by her parents and her sister-in-law Nikki Tague, Cindy is survived by her husband Jim, her sister and brother-in-law Pat (Tague) and Tom Seem of Big Flats, NY; her brother Bill A. Tague of Montour Falls, NY; her half brother and sister-in-law, Bill F. (Serefina) Tague Jr. of Cayuta, NY; her step sister and brother-in-law Steffanie (Michael) Trumino of Colts Neck, NJ; her former step mother and her husband, Rita (Tague) Carmony and Jim Carmony of Cayuta, NY; her brother-in-law and sister-in-law Rick and Marti Smith of Tampa, FL; brother-in-law Fred and (Katerina Pizanias) Smith of Athens, Greece and brother-in-law Paul Smith of Miami, FL as well as several nieces and nephews and four cousins. There will be no funeral service at this time. At a later date, burial will take place in Laurel Hill Cemetery in Odessa, NY. Donations in Cindy’s memory may be made to the Association for Frontotemporal Dementia (AFTD), 2700 Horizon Drive, Suite 120, King of Prussia, PA 19406.
