Cyril Fowler 1940-2021

Cyril “Burt” Fowler from Portland, previously from Colchester and Cheshire. Burt was born in New Haven to Cyril and Thelma Fowler on September 20, 1940. He graduated from Cheshire Academy, Curry College, and The Gemology Institute of America. After graduating from The Gemology Institute of America, he entered the family business, Fowler Jewelers. Upon his retirement, he kept busy repairing watches and clocks, vegetable gardening, and hunting for “treasures” with Eileen, his wife of 56 years. He loved Cape Cod, the UCONN Women’s basketball team, cars, pocket watches, and clocks. He enjoyed helping others in any capacity.

His greatest love was his family. Besides Eileen, he leaves his son Brett (Ann) of Cheshire and daughter Kristy (Barry) of Spring Hill, Tennessee. He was “E” to Ryan (Ashley), Owen (Heather), Alec (Cutie), and Hannah Fowler. He was “Poppy” to Eric and Reilly Robinson. Burt was predeceased by his great-granddaughter, Reagan Jean Fowler.

The family has received lovely notes from many people and the word most used to describe Burt was “kind”. We ask that in his honor, please be kind to one another.

At his request, there were no services. Donations in his memory may be made to either:
