Daniel Henry Smedick

Daniel "Danny" Henry Smedick, 75, passed away July 1, 2026, three weeks after the death his wife of 55 years Cynthia (Chant) Smedick on June 10. A long-time resident of Plainville, CT, Danny actively served with the Plainville Fire Company for 32 years. He also worked for more than 30 years in the air compressor industry. Danny is survived by his devoted son Darren Smedick and his wife Becky (Parent) of Middletown, CT. He was predeceased by parents Henry "Hank" Smedick and wife Ann Marie (Main) of Plainville, CT, and brother  Charles "Chic" Smedick. 

He leaves behind his sisters and sons-in-law Nancy (Donald) Hatch of AZ and Dina (Todd) Harris of CA; sister in-law Barbara Smedick of CT; sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law Christopher and Christine Born of CT, Cheryl Chant and Ken Rudzki of FL, and Corinne (Conrad) Chant of CT. Many nieces and nephews, family relatives and friends fondly remember Danny's wry sense of humor at family gatherings, especially beach trip, and will miss his delicious over-stuffed clam pies. 

Arrangements are being handled by Abbey Cremations, Rocky Hill, CT. Honoring the family wishes, Danny and Cynthia's lives will be celebrated with a private gathering of immediate family members. The family thanks the staff at Village Green in Bristol, CT, for their long term care of Danny. Donations may be made to Plainville Fire Company in Danny's name.
