David E. Mason

David Ernest Mason, of New Haven, formerly of Branford, passed away on January 14, 2026, at the age of 77.

Dave was born on June 16, 1948, in New Haven to the late David and Kathryn Mason. He was predeceased by his sister, Priscilla Egan, and his brother, John Mason.

At the age of 19, Dave proudly began his service in the United States Air Force. His time in the military instilled in him a deep sense of discipline and responsibility that guided him throughout his life.

Dave was a hardworking man and a devoted provider for his family. He was a skilled carpet installer who took great pride in his work. In his early years, he enjoyed bowling, running the Branford Road Race, and summer camping vacations with his children.

He was known for his kind heart, quiet strength, storytelling, sense of humor and love of peanut butter. Above all else, Dave cherished his family. He found his greatest joy in the time spent with his children and grandchildren. 

Dave is survived by his sister, Beverly (Charles) Levesque; his children, Rebecca (David) Massey, David Mason, Roy (Jaclyn) Dunn, and Patrick (Taissia) Dunn; his beloved grandchildren, Connor Massey, Skylar, Cayson, Keaton, and Gavin Dunn; as well as many nieces, nephews, and dear friends.

A celebration of Dave’s life will be held at a later date.

He will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him.
