David Lee Trares, 58, of Manchester, CT passed away at Yale New Haven Hospital on Monday, December 23, 2019 after a long courageous battle with MELAS. David was born on December 14, 1961 in Atlanta, Georgia to the late Edward and Marlene (Larson) Trares. David graduated from Loomis Chaffee School in Windsor, CT and from Asnuntuck Community College in Enfield, CT as a machinist. Prior to working as a machinist, David worked as a land surveyor for 19 years; many of them with Tarbell Heintz Associates in East Hartford, CT.
Spending time with his family was the most important thing to David. He loved to take vacations and go camping with them. David loved to make people laugh and had a great sense of humor. He loved to work with his hands in his spare time to build things for family and friends. He was an avid reader and appreciated the simpler things in life.
David is survived by his wife Donna (Gill) Trares, his three children Joshua L. Trares of Windsor, CT, Kali L. Tyler and Jordan M. Trares of Manchester, CT. He also leaves behind a sister, Janet M. Trares of Seattle, WA and his step-mother Leonore (Lee) Trares of Huntsville, AL. David was predeceased by his infant sister, Collette and his brother, James E. Trares.
The Trares family would like to thank all of David’s caregivers, the nurses and doctors at Yale New Haven Hospital and St. Raphael’s, and David’s mother-in-law, Clara for taking exceptional care of him.
A private celebration of life will be held at a later date for close family and friends to commemorate David’s life.
