David Paul Carpenter went home to be with the Lord on July 14, 2024, at his home in Middlefield surrounded by his family. David was born in Waterbury Ct, served in the Vietnam War, and received a Purple Heart. David aka "Big Dave" or "Top Cat" worked as a machinist at Pratt and Whitney for over 39 years. David loved traveling, fishing, hiking, camping, and spending time with his brothers and sisters in Christ. David was an avid Steelers fan and loved watching games with his son and grandson. David was a dedicated servant of the Lord and helped so many people through the AA program, Alateen, Celebrate Recovery, and served the homeless on Main Street, Middletown. David was kindhearted and always helping others. He has impacted many lives and will be greatly missed. David leaves behind his wife Dorothy, son Mark Carpenter and daughter Cynthia Carpenter, 2 grandchildren John and Brianna Carpenter, 2 sisters Doris Sowers and Linda Douthwright and 2 special people Dina Carpenter and Keith Sullivan. He also leaves behind his loving dog Molly. David was predeceased by his parents, John and Rita Carpenter, his sister Joan Hitchcock, and brother Billy Carpenter.
