Derek Grant

ree

With great sadness, we announce the peaceful passing of Derek Grant, beloved husband and father, passed away at home at the age of 81 surrounded by his loving family on August 2, 2025.

He is survived by his devoted wife of 53 years and his four daughters: Tracy, Jennifer, Jaime, Melissa, their partners John and Tim, and his granddaughter Zoë.

Derek was a dedicated engineer, graduating from UCONN with a master's degree in aerospace engineering. He worked at Pratt and Whitney for 38 years and was passionate about his hobby, stock trading. He also loved being with family and friends at home.

He worked hard to provide and protect his family and through him we learned to pursue happiness, embrace our independence and care for others. We want to thank family and friends for their love and support during this difficult time.

He will be deeply missed and forever in our hearts.

We met in 1974 as neighbors and quickly became good friends.  Throughout the years we spent many nights playing Domino’s and enjoying each others company  Not to mention out trips to Mohegan Sun.  We had so many good times and laughs.  You surly will be missed.  You have left behind your loving wife Gladys she is so sadden by your passing, and as a father, you were always there for your four daughters.  You will be missed by all who have known you.

Derek was there for me at one of the lowest points of my life. I was a man afraid to come out of my own home. Derek was there with a smiling face and a Helping Hand. He helped me move to my new home. Now I come outside everyday with no fear and he was a part of that. I will remember Derek always for the help he provided me in my times of need
