Donald Lewis Langevin

On August 30, 2026, at the age of 92, Donald Lewis Langevin, of Rocky Hill, Connecticut, has been taken from us having led a complete and accomplished life with family, military career, and the passion for being a devout Christian.   

Born on April 19, 1934, in Barre, Vermont to Eva and Arthur P. Langevin, at an early age, Don was motivated to get a head start on life’s opportunities.  At just seventeen he married his high school sweetheart Beverleen Iona Langevin (Turpin) and during their thirty-three-year marriage welcomed seven daughters into the world.  He was grandfather of seventeen grandchildren and many great grandchildren.  

Donald leaves behind his daughters Donna Catania, (Langevin) and Ron Catania of Rocky Hill CT, Deborah Cortese, (Langevin) and John Cortese of South Windsor, CT., Dale Meeks (Langevin) and Donnie Meeks, of Tallahassee, FL, Denise Brooks (Langevin) and Warren Brooks of North Myrtle Beach SC, Dorothy Hook (Langevin) and Jeff Hook of Harper’s Ferry, WV.  He is survived by sister Shirley Gorski of Charleston, SC. and predeceased by daughters Diana Langevin (Dubey) and Delores Langevin. 

Don was a self-made man.  Over his years he built a life providing for his family, his home, his work, his faith, devotion to his country, his animals, his friends, and service to the Catholic Church. He particularly enjoyed taking good care of his homes and never sat still as there was work to be done around one of his properties. His demeanor was one that you could not help but gravitate to.  He loved playing cards, playing pool, playing the piano, or just conversing with others about world events.  

His passion was to be a mentor to others having each and every one succeed under his direction.  He was known to be firm but fair and passed on to others what their work ethic should consist of.  His distinguished career would be one that would be sought after by many men and women of the Armed Forces.

As a Combat Soldier, his accomplishments as a Military Leader and Officer exceeded those of his contemporaries.  At the age of seventeen, he enlisted in the United States Army not knowing that his future would dictate his success throughout his career.  Don was one of the rare ones. 

He traveled the world including Korea, Germany, and the States with his family that he loved dearly.   

He held the enlisted rank of E-7 as a Master Sergeant but was soon to be promoted to Warrant Officer.  Not many Soldiers would have attained the ultimate rank of a W-3 which is the equivalent to a Major.  His classified Military Intelligence Career placed him in a zero-defects position which earned him respect from Colonels and above.  He was proud to have been awarded citations and medals including the infamous Legion of Merit, Combat Infantry Badge, Korean Service Medal, ROK Presidential Unit Citation, among many others. On a daily basis, after retirement, he wore his ribbons to honor America and the freedom which we, at times, take for granted.  

Burial will take place at the Connecticut Department of Veterans Affairs Memorial Cemetery in Middletown, CT at the convenience of the family.  Our heartfelt acknowledgment to Brooklawn/Abbey Funeral Services, Maple View Manor, and the Residence at Ferry Park, all of Rocky Hill, CT, for their guidance, care and support of our beloved Donald Langevin.
