Dorene C. Reyes, 71, passed away peacefully on February 25th, surrounded by her loving family.
She was born in Brooklyn, New York, and carried with her a deep sense of community and compassion throughout her life. Dorene dedicated 15 years of her career as a case manager, where she found purpose in helping others before retiring to spend more time with her family.
She was a devoted mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, and friend. Her greatest joy came from being with her family, especially her grandchildren. She loved vacationing with them, cheering them on at their sports games and activities, and creating lasting memories together.
Dorene had a passion for cooking and took pride in teaching others how to prepare authentic Puerto Rican dishes. She held a special love for the island of Puerto Rico, honoring her parents’ heritage and embracing its culture in her everyday life.
She also found joy in life’s simple pleasures—she loved the New York Yankees, taking care of her plants, and offering heartfelt advice to anyone who needed it. She especially loved daffodils, which reflected her bright and uplifting spirit.
Dorene was deeply generous and believed in giving back. She supported causes close to her heart, including Disabled Veterans, St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, and Susan G. Komen.
She enjoyed listening to and dancing to salsa music, and also loved how country music brought her a sense of peace and relaxation.
She will be deeply missed for her loving and compassionate nature, her contagious laugh, and her honesty. Dorene was always true to herself and never hesitated to speak the truth—with love and sincerity.
Her favorite prayer was Psalm 23, a reflection of her enduring faith and the comfort she carried throughout her life.
“The Lord is my shepherd; I shall not want. He maketh me to lie down in green pastures: he leadeth me beside the still waters. He restoreth my soul.”
A funeral service will be held on Saturday, March 28, 2026, at 12:00 p.m. at St. Jerome Catholic Church in New Britain, Connecticut.
Her memory will live on in the hearts of all who knew and loved her.
