Douglas Carl Schultz of Meriden, CT, age 63, son of Robert and Estelle Schultz of Meriden, passed away on December 31, 2021, following a long illness. He attended Meriden public schools and was a UCONN graduate. Doug was a member of Immanuel Lutheran Church, where he served on many boards, committees, and was very active in youth programs. As an avid lifelong singer and music lover, he was a well-respected choral member at his church and in the greater Meriden/Wallingford community. His most outstanding musical achievement was performing in the Chinese Oratorio Cantata: Ask the Sky and the Earth at Carnegie Hall in New York City.
Doug was a self-proclaimed “foodie,” and he enjoyed cooking and sampling expensive cheese. Of only slightly more importance was his love of dad jokes and inappropriate humor. He loved learning about World War II and collected and lectured on historical documents and glass pieces from his family’s business, Silver City Glass Company.
Doug was preceded in death by his parents and his wife, Amy Levine Schultz. He is survived by his children Erin (Jacques) Mcanlay, Timothy (Ashley) Schultz, Hannah Schultz, and Jenna Schultz; his grandchildren William and Lillian Schultz and Colton and Eleanora Mcanlay; his siblings Cindy (Ron) Silvernale, Robert Schultz, Jr, and Lynda (Michael) Murdy; his first wife, Tambria Gariepy; and many nieces and nephews.
Donations in Doug’s memory may be made to Immanuel Lutheran Church, 164 Hanover Street, Meriden, CT 06450, or Hartford Hospital Transplant Program and Comprehensive Liver Center, 85 Seymour Street, Suite 320, Hartford, CT, 06102
A memorial service beginning at 10 am will be held on Saturday, April 2, 2022, at Immanuel Lutheran Church, 164 Hanover Street in Meriden.
