Douglas Richard Marry

It is with great sadness in our hearts that we say goodbye to Douglas Richard Marry, who passed away unexpectedly this past month in his home in West Haven, CT. 

Doug was a man of great character and strong values. He never had a complaint or a negative thing to say about anyone. He was a good man with a kind heart and is a great loss to this world.

Doug was born on 2/24/1961 in San Diego, CA, where he grew up with his family as one of four children. He enjoyed activities such as baseball and fishing, among others. He attended St. Thomas Catholic School in Norwalk, CT from 1st thru 8th grade and Central Catholic High from 8th-11th grade before graduating from Norwalk High in 1979. After that, he went on to honorably serve 4 years in the Marine Corps at various locations on land and sea, which he was very proud of.

As an adult, Doug lived a fairly simple and private life, but he always kept in close contact with his family and was a loving and attentive son, brother, and uncle. He lived in several different parts of the country during his life, but most recently was living near the VA Medical Center in West Haven, where he could be close to his family and also walk to the VAMC for most of his medical care. He was also involved with The Vertical Church in West Haven, where he attended services and functions regularly. He enjoyed writing and wrote numerous things, including several screenplays, which he had hoped to bring to success someday. In addition to writing, Doug loved music, fishing, Harley Davidsons, good food, good friends, and especially, his family.

Doug was predeceased by his father, Richard John Marry. 

He is survived by his Mother, June Ann Marry of Norwalk; his siblings and their spouses: Debbie Marry and Paul Yates of Westport, June and Nick Giangrasso of Northport, FL, Rick and Emily Marry of Orange; his nieces and nephews: Amanda Dressel, Cassidy Marry, Connor Marry, Makenna Menosky, Nicole Giangrasso, Taylor, Brenda, and P.J. Yates; and his aunt: Shirley Allgood of Naples, FL.

Doug’s ashes will be entrusted to the military and buried at sea in an honorable veteran’s ceremony.

Doug was a beloved son, brother, uncle, and friend, and we will miss him dearly. We love you, Doug. Until we meet again. Oorah!
