Edward B. Dexter
June 1949 - September 2021
Edward Bradford Dexter, 72, of Cranston, Rhode Island, passed away on September 23, 2021 at his sister’s home in Connecticut after a courageous battle with carcinoma of the lungs associated with herbicide exposure, commonly referred to as Agent Orange. After extensive treatment at the Veterans Administration Hospital in Providence, Rhode Island, he received his final care from Hartford HealthCare at Home. The family is grateful for the medical attention provided by these agencies.
He was the devoted husband of Ana Dexter for over thirty years, who passed away in 2017. He was the youngest of twelve siblings, and he is survived by his brothers Glenn Dexter and Prescott Dexter and his sisters Harriet Dexter and Pearl Dexter. He is also survived by his children, Edward Dexter Jr, Eva Sousa, Brad Dexter, Jennifer Barrera, Kevin Dexter, Kimberly Forrest, and Christopher Dexter, as well as his grandchildren, Courtney, Madison, Robert, Jay Jay, Gianni, Tyler, Jordyn, Jaxson, Savannah, and Julian, and countless nieces and nephews.
Edward earned his Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration from Johnson & Wales University and worked for nearly four decades as a plant and production manager in the jewelry industry. Throughout his life, Edward particularly appreciated the time spent with his large extended family. He was, notably, a veteran of the Vietnam War, and he was honored to serve his country as a member of the United States Marine Corps.
Services will be held at Christian Fellowship Church, 140 Pudding Hill Road, Scotland, Connecticut on Saturday, October 9, 2021 at 8:30 am. A formal military burial will follow at 11:15 am at Rhode Island Veterans Memorial Cemetery, 301 South County Trail, Exeter, Rhode Island.
