Edward Carl Andeen Sr., 68, beloved husband of Valerie Andeen, passed away on Tuesday, April 28, 2026.
Edward was born on March 22, 1958, in Middletown, Connecticut, the son of the late John and Virginia (Hurlburt) Andeen.
He is survived by his devoted wife, Valerie (Puzas) Andeen; his son, Edward Andeen Jr. of Manchester; his daughter, Alicia (Andeen) Quagliaroli, and her children, Anthony, Dominic, and David; his siblings Karen Stebbins of Middletown and William Andeen of Higganum; along with several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his brother, Michael Andeen of Higganum.
Edward grew up in Haddam and Higganum, where he developed a lifelong love of baseball at a young age. He was also deeply involved in fife and drum corps from the age of 12 into adulthood, an experience that became a lasting passion. In recognition of his talent and dedication, he was invited to perform with the President’s Corps.
He graduated from Vinal Technical School, Class of 1976, and went on to proudly serve his country in the United States Marine Corps as a 6173 CH-53D/E helicopter crew chief. During his service, he was deployed to numerous countries, including Sri Lanka, Iran, Korea, and Japan. He participated in multiple crossing ceremonies and took part in humanitarian missions aiding those in need. While serving, Edward’s skill and work ethic earned him the distinction of being selected as a mechanic for the President’s helicopter.
Following his military service, Edward built a long and respected career as a skilled tradesman. He worked as a tool and die maker at Pratt & Whitney for 20 years before transitioning into the HVAC field. He continued his career with Aiello Home Services and later with Nutmeg Mechanical, where he spent another 20 years as a dedicated technician and mentor to many in the industry. Edward concluded his career at Lincoln Technical Institute, where he spent three years as a beloved instructor, sharing his knowledge and passion with the next generation. He retired just one year ago.
Edward was a well-loved member of the Higganum community. Over the years, he served as president of the bowling league at Bowl-O-Rama and was widely respected for his willingness to guide and support others, both professionally and personally. He will be remembered for his strong work ethic, his dedication to his family, and the lasting impact he made on those who knew him.
