Edward F. Osinski, June 2, 1930 – November 16, 2018


Edward F. Osinski, 88, beloved father and grandfather passed away peacefully at home on

Friday, November 16 surrounded by his family.


Born in Hartford, CT June 2, 1930, to Frank and Victoria Osinski. Edward grew up in Hartford. He attended Hillyer College (University of Hartford) and the University of Connecticut majoring in engineering. Ed served in the Air National Guard from 1951and 1952.


Ed met his wife Ann in 1955, through a sledding club he had organized while they both were

working at Pratt & Whitney Machine Tool. They were married on November 9, 1957 and

eventually settled in Glastonbury where they raised their three sons.


“Eddy O” began his career in the Engineering Department of Henry & Wright Manufacturing,

and then worked at Pratt and Whitney Machine Tool before he joining Industrial Risk Insurers in 1957, spending the next 35 years in various loss control engineering capacities. Ed was a

handy man that roofed his own house and built many stone walls and gardens. As a hobby he would refurbish furniture, repair/rebuild bicycles and other sport equipment to pass along to others.


Ed was an avid outdoorsman, he loved camping, kayaking/canoeing, and skiing. He had fond

memories of going to the family’s farm in Maine as a boy. Growing up he spent time as a life

guard and swim instructor. He achieved “The Order of the Arrow” from the Boy Scouts – an

honor bestowed on Scouts elected by their peers as best exemplifying the ideals of Scouting

including selfless leadership to help others. He later served as a Webelos and Scout leader.


Ed was a member of the National Ski Patrol and spent his later years as a “ski reporter”

reporting on snow conditions from ski areas around New England. He loved the mountains and routinely hiked the White Mountains in New Hampshire with friends and family. And during the warmer months, Ed could be found paddling the Connecticut River whether in canoe or kayak.


Ed favorite memories were of spending time his children and grandchildren. Ed passed his

passion for the outdoors, teaching them to ski, hike and swim through various camping and ski adventures.


Ed is joining his beloved daughter, Vaughn, his brother Stephen and his parents. He is survived by Ann, his loving wife of 61 years, sons Shawn Osinski of Essex, CT and his daughter Livinia; Duane Osinski his wife Karen, daughters Allison and Jennifer of Matthews, NC; Kevin V Osinski and daughter Montana and son Cooper, of Fairfield, CT; his brother Ted Osinski of Palm Beach Gardens, FL and his family.


The family is planning a celebration of life to be held in spring.
