Edward J. (Ned) Healey,Age 70,passed peacefully at home in Southington,CT after a brief illness,with the love of his life,Kathryn(née Gorman)Healey by his side.
Born and raised in Waterbury Connecticut, he was the son of the late Laura (Bresnahan)Healey and Edward F.Healey ,the proprietor of the Healey Tavern on Baldwin St. and brother to Donald F. Healey of Tennessee.
In addition to his beloved wife Kathryn, he is survived by his brothers Raymond Gorman(Newington),Joseph Gorman(Seymour),and James Hutt(Middlefield),As well as his many nieces and nephews, all whom love him dearly.
He was retired from the City of Waterbury School Inspectors Dept. after more than 25 years. He also was employed for many years at the Hospital of Central CT Bradley campus and retired 4 years ago.
Ned served in the US military with the 195th aviation company 222nd Battalion in the Republic of South Vietnam. He was honorably discharged after having received several military honors including the national Defense service medal,the Vietnam service medal, and the Vietnam campaign medal.
There will be a celebration of his life to be determined at a later date.
Donations may be made in his honor to the Smilow cancer hospital at 35 Park St., New Haven, CT
The Abbey of Rocky Hill provided arrangements.
I'm sorry to hear that Ned passed. Condolences to his family. He was a good guy and always interesting to talk to. Gone too early.
