Eleanor Dickens

Remembering Eleanor “Nana” Dickens

Eleanor Dickens passed away on January 8, 2026, at the age of 94, just two and a half weeks after losing her beloved husband, Harvey. Those who knew them knew how inseparable they were—and in the end, Nana simply couldn’t be without Papa for long.

Born in Nova Scotia, Eleanor later came to the United States, where she built a life shaped by strength, adaptability, and love. She had three children earlier in life. Life took many turns, but one of her greatest chapters began when she met Harvey. They were married for 45 years and created a life filled with partnership, comfort, and deep devotion.

To family and friends, she wasn’t Eleanor—she was Nana. Even her daughter, Leslie, would often refer to her interchangeably as “Mom” or “Nana,” a reflection of how naturally she filled both roles with love.

Funny, happy, and full of laughter, Nana loved to joke, tease, and truly play with the kids. She had a lightness about her that made people feel at ease and made children feel seen and adored.

Nana loved golf and enjoyed quiet moments reading while Papa watched his Eagles. She was a talented knitter and crocheter, creating pieces that wrapped her love into every stitch. While Papa was strong and opinionated, Nana balanced him with warmth and humor.

Eleanor took great pride in being Nana to many grandchildren and great-grandchildren, a role she embraced with happiness and playfulness.

Eleanor lived a long, full life marked by laughter, love, and devotion. Now reunited with Papa, she is exactly where she belongs—by his side.

A celebration of life honoring both Harvey and Eleanor will be held in March. Details will be shared once they are finalized.
