Eleonore Maria Pauly, 88, passed away on April 22, 2021 in Waterford, CT. Born November 5, 1932 in Beirut, Lebanon, she was the daughter of the late Rudolph Pauly and Adelheid Kowallik Pauly.
Eleonore (Lore) obtained a Bachelor's from Keuka College in Keuka Park, NY. She then taught at Bement School in Deefield, MA before obtaining her Masters in Education from the College of Saint Rose in Albany, NY. She then traveled to France for a bit before coming back to Albany, NY to help her parents.
Lore was a longtime resident of 55 years on Fisher's Island in NY. She taught at the public school on Fisher's Island, before deciding to be self-employed as a longtime caretaker and caterer for many homes and mansions on Fisher's Island. She was a long-time volunteer at the New London Community Meal Center, and loved to cook for and interact with guests at the meal center and listen to their life stories. She obtained a plaque of recognition in 2017 for her dedicated service there. Lore loved to read and was an avid collector of many books and antiques, and enjoyed attending her church at Union Chapel. She loved gardens and gardening, and absolutely adored animals. She had a big heart and frequently took care of many cats on the island that were sometimes left behind by property owners.
Eleonore will be greatly missed, and leaves behind her brother Ralph Pauly and his wife Francine, her sister Adelheid Lansing and her late Husband Jerry, her youngest brother Hans Pauly and his wife Suzanne, two beloved cats - Nooky and Doll, and many nieces and nephews and friends.
There will be a "Celebration of Life" for Lore on Saturday, May 8 at 12:30pm at Harkness Park, Waterford, CT.
