Elizabeth Nordstrom Burke, 92,“Betty“ to the many who knew and loved her, passed away peacefully on April 22, 2024. She was born on March 27, 1932 to Ernest and Elizabeth Nordstrom. She was pre-deceased by Howard A. Burke, her husband of 62 years, a sister, Mary Breden; and Elsa Nordstrom. She is survived by son, Bob Burke (Cathy), daughters Pat Lambert, Elaine Tomaseski (Jim), and Dawn Lang; eight grandchildren (Matt Lambert, Sarah Burke, James Tomaseski, Lisa Lopez, Donny Lang, Rachael LaBrecque, John Tomaseski and Brian Lang),10 great grandchildren, numerous cousins, nieces, nephews, and tons of friends. Betty never encountered a stranger. Hers was the house filled with kids, friends, fun, laughter, and games, but, best of all, love. She lived life robustly and was full of the best kind of mischief. Betty was also kind, caring, compassionate, and the first to help in time of need. She was a native of Woodbury, CT, resided in Naugatuck, CT for 67 years, but her favorite place was her home in Southport, Maine. She leaves a void in the lives of so many who have had the good fortune to know her. Services will be held at 11:00 am in South Britain Congregational Church, Southbury, CT. Mom always thought memorial donations made such a positive impact. Please consider a donation to a charity of your choice or either of her favorites: Juvenile Diabetes or Southport Maine Fire Department.
Services will be held on Saturday, 5/25/24, at 11:00 am in South Britain Congregational Church, Southbury, CT.
My deepest sympathy to all of Betty’s family. I was blessed to have her for my kind and caring friend for so many years. All my love and prayers, Dorothy Zehnder Mariano
Mom, thanks for being you! You were a one-of-a kind Mother who was so loving, caring, kind, funny and mischievous and I was always so proud to call you Mom. You were also my very best friend and I'm going to miss you terribly. The days ahead are going to challenging but you've always taught us to look at the bright side of life and appreciate the things you have so I'm going to hang on and cherish all the fun times and memories we've shared together. You've always made each one of us feel special but I know who your favorite really was (or at least who your favorite middle daughter was!). ❤️❤️❤️
