Eugene J. Andes Sr. 1930-2021

Mr. Eugene Joseph Andes Sr. (Gene) died peacefully surrounded by his family at Shady Knoll Health Care in Seymour, CT on June 17, 2021 at the age of 90.

Eugene is survived by his wife of 61 years, Barbara A. Andes of Seymour, CT and his six children, Eugene J. Andes Jr. (spouse - Maria) of Edison, NJ, Lorraine E. Andes-Schaeffer (spouse - Ronnie) of Wolcott, CT, Michael A. Andes Sr. (spouse - Kelly) of Pottsville, PA, Lisa E. Andes - Hayes (spouse - William) of Naugatuck, CT, Steven W. Andes Sr. (spouse - Patricia) of Naugatuck, CT, David A. Andes (spouse- Sandra) of Seymour, CT, as well as 36 Grand and Great Grand Children whom he loved to spend time with.

Eugene was born on August 26, 1930 in Bridgeport, CT to Francis F. Andes and Mildred C. Andes. He was a graduate of Milford High School class of 1949 and was an exceptional second baseman throughout his time at The United States Navy to serve his country in the Korean War. He seved aboard The U.S.S. Oriskany CVA - 34 receiving the Good Conduct, Korean Service, United Nations, China Sevice, Navy Occupation and National Defence ribbons and medals.

After his honorable discharge from the service in late 1954, ugene boarded a bus in San Francisco for his journey across The United States taking in the sights along the way home to Milford, CT. Upon returning home, Eugene took a job at Sikorsky Aircraft in Stratford, CT as an Xray Technician in quality control and continued until his retirement in 1996.

A memorial service will be held on Saturday, June 26, 2021 at 10:00 A.M.

My Dad! The Greatest man I ever knew. A man of integrity, character, principle, heart and strength. I would be lucky to be half the man and father he was. I will love and miss you all the days of my life. Thank You Dad!
