Frederick (Freddie) Richard Criscuolo IV, 55, of Meriden, died Monday, January 2, 2023, at Hartford Hospital after a long battle with an illness. He was born in Meriden, CT on December 12, 1967, a son of Frederick Criscuolo III and the late Helen (Brija) Criscuolo. Freddie was employed by the City of Meriden’s Traffic Division for nearly a decade as a Traffic Sign Maintainer. Prior to his civil service, Freddie served in the United States Marine Corps from 1984-1987.
He is survived by his wife of 19 years, Julia I. Criscuolo, and stepson & daughter-in-law, Charles & Caitlin Adkins; his brother, Raymond J. Criscuolo, and his wife, Rachel; his sister Gina M. Welsh and her husband John; many nieces & nephews; and an endless list of friends he considered brothers & sisters.
In his spare time, he most enjoyed sharing the feeling and freedom of the open road with Julia on the back of their Harley-Davidson Road King. An amateur chef in his home kitchen, Freddie loved whipping up dishes of baked ziti and stuffed mushrooms followed by his famous homemade cheesecake. There’s an adage that goes something like, “the fastest way to a woman’s heart is through her stomach”. That’s how he wrangled Julia in, and she never left. Their love rode through many o’ storm, over many o’ wave, and not even death has done them apart.
A celebration of life event will be held for Freddie on Sunday, February 5th, 2023, beginning at 2:00pm at O’Brien’s Pub, 1257 Old Colony Rd, Wallingford, CT 06492.
