Gary L. Laflamme, 74, of Newington, passed away peacefully in his home on Tuesday, July 14, 2020 with his family and beloved dog Angel by his side. Gary was born in Hartford, CT to Delia and Alfred LaFlamme on August 23, 1945. Gary walked many paths in his life: starting as a Marine Corp veteran, he went on to work in the sprinkler fitters’ union, and finally settled on basing his career around his passion for cuisine. During his culinary career, he had the pleasure of enjoying his own catering business with his son, as well as working as a chef at an organic grocery store. He was always finding new recipes to impress his family with: whether it be from cooking shows, or fine dining with his wife to sample some of the expensive dishes. Gary was also a member of the Quartette Club of New Britain. There, he enjoyed playing cards and horseshoes with his friends. He and his wife loved to travel. You could also find them chasing the rush of gambling at the Mohegan Sun Casino. Gary is survived by the love of his life, his wife of 33 years, Julia Laflamme (Newington), his brother Robert Laflamme (Florida), his children: Tamara Laflamme (Terryville), Kathleen and Chris Conniff (New Britain), John Marczak and fiance Elizabeth Boilard (New Britain), his niece and nephew Lori and Robert (Jr.) Laflamme (Florida), and his grandchildren: Joshua and Shai Conniff, Nicholas Pelletier and fiance Brooke Picard, Jacob Conniff and girlfriend Brittany Dyer, Delia Selim and boyfriend Todd Miller, Ariana and Giana Marczak and Gary’s great granddaughter Lennon Miller. Gary regularly entertained Sunday breakfasts, cookouts, Holiday feasts, and special occasions such as birthdays with this group; teaching us all to enjoy life and the family you get to share it with. Gary was a man who was loved by so many for his big heart, his selfless desire to help anyone in need, and his ability to make anyone feel welcome in his home. He will be dearly missed by his family and friends.
