Gary Nicholas Goen 1956-2021

Updated: Oct 24, 2021

Gary Nicholas Goen, 65, of Bristol, CT passed away on October 19, 2021. Gary was born May 17, 1956 in Waterbury, CT, the youngest son to Ronald Goen and Doris Reardon. On March 18, 1978 he married his best friend, Kathleen A. Carr. He was baptized as one of Jehovah’s Witnesses on February 18, 1984 and remained faithful until his death. Gary loved the Carr family get togethers (even willing to drive 20 hours to attend), his annual Daddy/Daughter Day at The Big E (a 40 year tradition), spending a relaxing week with treasured friends in OBX, camping, often going with many friends (especially his 3 buddies Joshua, Matthew & Sean Holland) and during the pandemic his weekly socially distanced fires with Lisa & Carnell Carter. Gary worked at several machine shops over the years where he met so many wonderful people that made going to work a pleasure for him (most recently at AGC Acquisition).

Along with his wife, Kath, he is survived by his 2 daughters, Jennifer Goen of Simsbury and his mini-me Kelly Goen of Bristol. Gary also leaves behind mother-in-law Anna Joan Carr of Deleon Springs, FL, whom he held dear in his heart, his brother Bob Goen along with his wife Bonny of Athens, AL and their 2 daughters, Amy Goen of Huntsville, AL & Erica Satterfield and her husband Lee (and their family) of Ardmore, AL, his half-sisters Debra Reardon and Colleen Delfino, his half-brothers Richard and Dennis Reardon, his step-sister Melissa Greene, and his step-brothers Jeffrey, Timothy & Michael Greene, his sister-in-law Patricia Traulsen along with her husband Steve of Deleon Springs, FL and their children, Rick Traulsen and his wife Julie of Rochester, NY, Mark Traulsen of Daytona Beach, FL, David Traulsen and his wife Sarah (and their family) of Palm Coast, FL & Rebecca Traulsen of Deleon Springs, FL with whom he had a special connection (Rebecca affectionately referred to him as Her Uncle Fred), his brother-in-law Mike Carr along with his wife Nicole of Huntsville, AL and their 3 sons, Graham Carr and his wife Cassy (and their family) of Alvord, TX, Brandon Carr and his wife Victoria (and their family) of Rome, TX, and Jared Carr of Denton, TX. His nephews jokingly, with love, called him Homer and often involved him in many of their shenanigans, some as calm as a day fishing or others as wild as a day at the amusement park. He also left many close friends that he considered family and several aunts, uncles and cousins. He was predeceased by his parents and his cherished father-in-law Lawrence Carr.

There will be no calling hours. On Friday, October 29, 2021 at 7pm Gary Lind will give a Memorial Talk in Gary’s honor, by means of an online Zoom Meeting. Please contact family or friends for the Zoom login and password. All are welcome to attend.
