George Swanson, born January, 29 1943 passed away peacefully on March 30, 2026, leaving behind a family who loved him deeply and will miss him greatly.

He is survived by his beloved wife, Patricia Swanson; his last living sibling, James D. Swanson; and his children, Deborah Anthes (Phil), Dawn Cady (Scott), Kerri Dallesander (Steve), Eric Swanson (Lindsey) and Kristine Swanson. Many nieces, nephews and 9 grandchildren.

George was preceded in death by his parents, Carl and Doris (Morris) Swanson, his wife, Charlene (Dyer) Swanson and daughter Kimberly Swanson along with his siblings, Carl Swanson, Karen Norman, Robert Swanson, and Kenneth Swanson.

George was a Free Mason for most of his life and dedicated many years to the organization. He was also an active member of the Shriners for much of his adult life. These organizations were an important part of his life, and he took great pride in the fellowship, service, and values they represented.

George was an avid fisherman who likely spent as much of his life as possible with a fishing rod in his hand. Fishing was one of his greatest joys and brought him peace throughout the years. George also had a deep love for sports, especially baseball and hockey. He kept a close eye on both and was known for his incredible knowledge of baseball statistics, remembering players and numbers from the early 1940s right up to recent times. In his downtime, George loved a good tag sale and collecting more “stuff” to put into his already over-packed sheds.

George will be remembered for his jovial and jokey personality, often giving off zingers to family & friends and keeping everyone on their toes. His devotion to his family, his lifelong passions, and the many memories he created with those who knew and loved him, will never be forgotten.

May he rest in peace, reunited with those who went before him.

My dad loved telling stories about the adventures he had with his little brothers, George included.

If you asked my dad “Where are we going?” 50% of the time he’d answer “Heaven, wanna come?” Now that Uncle George has joined him, I can think of them together on a pond in the early morning, casting for shiners to stock heaven’s first bait shop :)
