Gerald P. Scheidel Jr. ( Jerry ) 62 of Middletown, CT died peacefully May 25, 2020 at his home.
Gerald P. Scheidel Jr. was born February 5, 1958 in Torrington, CT to Gerald P. Scheidel Sr. and Alice Dearing Scheidel.
He graduated from Vinyl Technical High School of Middletown, CT Class of 1977 as an auto mechanic. Before he moved to Florida in 1991 to run the family Amoco Station, he worked for the State of Connecticut. He returned to Connecticut with his wife Diane in 2000. Jerry worked and retired from Electrical Wholesalers in 2010. Jerry and Diane would have been celebrating their 20th anniversary on July 21, 2020.
Auto racing was his passion where he found peace and solitude from everyday life at Waterford Speedbowl. Jerry had many friends who shared his love of cars and racing. Together they would share many fun gatherings. Jerry was an avid pool and card player, and engaged in many tournaments. He loved to laugh and enjoy life.
He enjoyed his weekend Nascar races and taking long rides with his wife Diane sometimes ending up unexpectedly visiting with his cousins.
He was a lifelong member of the Middletown Moose lodge #1547, Falcon’s Club # 519, Eagles club # 681, and the K-club.
He is survived by his wife Diane Scheidel, his beloved dogs Poochie, Daisy, and Maggie, his mother, Alice Dearing Scheidel of Middletown, his sister Lori Tharin (Brent), his nephews, Eric Sierpinski (Jaime), Joey Sierpinski, Travis Sierpinski (Samantha) along with a great- niece and several great- nephews all from Higganum/Haddam, CT.
He was predeceased by his father Gereld P. Scheidel Sr.
Jerry will be laid to rest privately.
