Gloria C. Botchis, 90, of Montville, CT, passed away while in hospice care at her son’s home in Montville, CT. Gloria, one of four children of Salvatore Corpaci and Marianna Corpaci (nee Catalucci). She was born and raised in Torrington, CT. She attended NYU, Boston University, and Central Connecticut State University, where she met her husband Stephen J. Botchis. After teaching English in the Torrington School System through 1963, the family moved to New London, where Gloria worked in the speech therapy and special education departments of the Waterford Public School system. She retired from teaching in 1987, began working as a speech therapist in rehabilitation centers, and later helping with one of her son’s businesses, Radgowski’s Deli-Mart. Her wide range of experience also included becoming a licensed cosmetologist, owning a business, Alps Liquors, and becoming a certified clown!
Gloria was predeceased by her husband, Stephen J. Botchis, who passed unexpectedly in June of 1988. They had been married nearly 30 years. She always maintained that she had the best husband in the world.
Gloria’s survivors include her son Paul Botchis, daughter Marianne Shutt, sons-in-law James Radgowski and James Shutt, and two grandchildren Stephen Shutt and Sydney Shutt.
There will be no public services or visitation. Instead, the family will host a celebration of life at The Montville Polish Club at 6:00 pm on August 15, 2022. All who knew her are invited to stop by and share a memory of her very full life.
