On Monday May 25, 2020, Gonzalo Ortiz a loving father of five died at Hartford Hospital, he was 77.
Gonzalo was born in Comerio, Puerto Rico to Esteban and Emilia (Santiago) Ortiz. He later moved to Hartford CT as a young man where he raised his family. Gonzalo was nicked named “Samson” due to his reputation as a strong man, but with a love for the simple things in life. He loved his family and being able to spend time with them, he loved his cars and sitting at the park admiring his freshly waxed car. He loved to eat, and looked forward to family picnics at his sister’s house.
Gonzalo was a long time member of the Hartford North Spanish Congregation of Jehovah’s Witnesses. He had great faith in the promises found in the Bible and always enjoyed speaking about his beliefs with others.
Gonzalo is survived by his children Gonzalo “Junior” and his wife Sheila, Brenda, Osvaldo, Eliezer and his wife Lisa, Janellie and her husband Troy. Gonzalo came from a very large family being one of sixteen children who all miss him dearly, his siblings are, Josefina, Esteban, Maria Christina, Lucila, Ramona, Carmen Luisa, Carmen Delia, Marcelino, Carmen Iris, Jose, Raul, Rosa Margarita, Rosa Irma, Irma Rosa, and Daisy. He has 13 grandchildren, 6 great grandchildren and a very large extended family.
