In Loving Memory of Harvey “Papa” Dickens

Harvey Dickens, 90, a devoted husband, loving father, grandfather, and great-grandfather passed away December 21, 2025, surrounded by the love of his family.

Harvey lived a life rooted in love, loyalty, and family. He was devoted to his wife, Eleanor Dickens, the love of his life. To their family, they were simply Nana and Papa—a deeply connected pair whose bond shaped the heart of their family.

Born and raised in Philadelphia, Harvey carried his roots with pride throughout his life. He was a skilled engineer, respected for his intelligence, steady work ethic, and thoughtful problem-solving. A lifelong and passionate Philadelphia Eagles fan, football was more than a pastime—it was a tradition and a way to bring family together.

Papa was a strong man and often opinionated, never afraid to speak his mind. Those who knew him best understood that beneath his firm convictions was a deeply caring heart. His strength, honesty, and unmistakable presence were part of what made him so memorable and so loved.

Harvey had children from an earlier marriage who became an important part of his life again in later years. He maintained close relationships with his nephews and family in NJ, valuing the time spent together and the bond they shared. He cherished traveling to visit loved ones, making memories that spanned generations. He found great joy in Eleanor’s family and cherished his role as Papa to his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Weekends spent watching football, cheering on the Eagles, Sunday dinners, and laughing together were among his happiest moments.

Harvey was a lifelong dog lover. While he was unable to have dogs in his later years, his love for them never faded, and he often spoke fondly of the companions who had once been such an important part of his life.

Harvey and Eleanor were rarely seen apart. Life will never be the same without the two of them together, and Eleanor is devastated by the loss of her beloved husband. His memory lives on in every tradition they shared and in the family who continues to carry his spirit forward.

Papa will be remembered for his strength, his opinions, his loyalty, and the deep love he had for his family—especially Nana, who was always by his side.
